Lord Craven:   A bit of earth?

Mary:   To plant seeds in. To make things grow.

I fell in love with the story of the ‘Secret Garden’ one afternoon at my Opa and Oma’s. Wherever I may live, over the course of my life, I will never stop asking the question, “Can I have a bit of earth?”

This bit of earth is from my garden at the Hill Street Community Garden.  I spent about 4hours this afternoon weaving trellis from winter sticks and vines, transplanting orac and sunflower from the compost, and sowing pea, radish, bean, zucchini, butternut squash, and eggplant seeds.

The discovery this year is that if old kale stalks are left in the ground over the winter it will sprout fresh spring kale!
